About this listing
'Hatshepsut' is an original portrait of the Pharoah Queen Hatshepsut of Egypt. Painted in acrylics on stretched canvas, this painting is approximately A4 size. Inspired by statues from the time, 'Hatshepsut' is my original impression of an ancient female ruler. Mostly painted using colours likened to those available to the ancient Egyptians at the time, 'Hatshepsut' is a portrait that covers most of the canvas. Hatshepsut has an interesting story, she ruled for 20 years and proclaimed herself Pharoah, unheard of for a female at the time; she was the first ruling queen. In later statues and plaques, Hatshepsut is depicted as male (at her request) to solidify her ultimate and all powerful rule. She kept all her inscriptions as female, however.
This painting is unframed, without fixings.
